J&B Recycling has recently been named ‘Best Waste Management & Recycling Company in County Durham’ by SME News. This award highlights our commitment to effective waste management and sustainability across the North East of England.

Established in 1998, J&B Recycling has grown from a small family business into one of the leading waste management companies in the North East of England. Under the leadership of Managing Director Vikki Jackson-Smith, the company has expanded to employ almost 200 people, becoming a well-known name in the waste management sector.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

J&B Recycling operates two major recycling facilities in Hartlepool, another in South Tees, and a transfer station in Washington. These facilities process over 200,000 tonnes of waste each year. The Windermere Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Hartlepool is especially notable for employing the latest sorting technology to guarantee a 99% recovery of recyclable materials. Over the past five years, the Windermere MRF has increased its processing capacity by more than 300% through efficiency improvements. In 2022 this achievement was recognised when J&B Recycling’s Windermere MRF was awarded ‘Facility of the Year’ at the National Recycling Awards.

A Wide Range of Services

J&B Recycling offers a variety of services including waste collection, skip hire, bulk waste disposal, and hazardous waste management. Their fleet operates throughout Northern England and parts of Scotland, ensuring efficient waste collection 363 days a year.

J&B Recycling is dedicated to a Zero Waste to Landfill policy, ensuring that all waste is either recycled or used for energy recovery. This approach helps in producing renewable energy and supports a more sustainable environment.

Financial Growth and Market Position

The company has seen significant growth in its processing capacity and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA). We aim to continue this growth, focusing on improving efficiency and investing in our facilities.
