J&B Recycling is continuing to invest in the safety and development of its transport team, with two employees successfully completing the RoSPA Level 2 Award in Driver Assessor Skills.
Nik and Chris have completed the specialist training, giving them the skills and knowledge to assess other drivers within the business and provide clear, constructive feedback to support safe driving and ongoing development.
With J&B collection vehicles operating across the North East every day, maintaining high driving standards is an important part of protecting employees, customers and other road users.
Supporting safer driving across our fleet
Driver assessment provides an opportunity to look beyond simply whether someone can operate a vehicle safely. It can help identify driving behaviours and areas for development, while also recognising and reinforcing good practice.
The RoSPA Level 2 Award in Driver Assessor Skills develops the practical skills needed to assess drivers effectively, identify development needs and provide constructive feedback.
RoSPA highlights driver assessment and training as an important part of managing occupational road risk, helping organisations understand and address risks associated with employees driving for work.
By developing this expertise in-house, J&B can further strengthen its approach to driver development and provide ongoing support to colleagues across its transport operation.
Investing in our vehicles – and the people behind the wheel
The latest training follows continued investment in J&B Recycling’s transport operations.
The company recently welcomed five new MAN TGS 35.440 hookloaders to its fleet, supporting the collection and exchange of Roll-on Roll-off (RORO) containers for commercial and industrial customers across the region.
While investment in modern vehicles and equipment is important, J&B also recognises that the people operating them are fundamental to delivering a safe and reliable service.
Developing qualified Driver Assessors within the business brings these two areas of investment together – ensuring improvements to the fleet are supported by continued investment in the skills, knowledge and development of J&B’s drivers.

The qualification also reflects J&B Recycling’s wider commitment to helping employees develop new skills and progress within the business.
Having trained Driver Assessors within the team means experienced employees can use their knowledge to support colleagues, reinforce good driving practices and identify opportunities for further development.
