We are delighted to congratulate our Customer Service Executive, Lucy, on completing her Level 3 Customer Service Apprenticeship through Hartlepool College of Further Education – achieving full marks across her assessment!
Lucy completed the apprenticeship over 18 months while continuing to work within our busy customer service team. During this time, she attended Hartlepool College of Further Education one day a week to complete her coursework and develop her customer service knowledge.
Completing an apprenticeship alongside a busy role required commitment, organisation and good time management, making Lucy’s achievement even more impressive.
Speaking about her achievement, Lucy said: “It feels amazing. I feel like all my hard work over the past year and a half has paid off.”
Lucy chose to complete the qualification because she was already working within our customer service team and wanted to build her knowledge and confidence in the role.
Apprenticeships play an important role in developing our team at J&B Recycling, allowing employees to gain recognised qualifications while building practical skills they can apply directly within their roles.
Throughout the course, Lucy developed a range of skills, including problem-solving and handling difficult customer situations. She also completed a project reviewing customer issues and conducted a survey to gather feedback from our customers, which produced positive results.
Working on the project was Lucy’s favourite part of the apprenticeship, as it allowed her to apply what she had learned to her everyday role. The experience has also helped her strengthen the skills she uses when supporting customers and working alongside the wider team.
A typical day for Lucy involves responding to customer service emails, answering telephone enquiries, checking collection routes and assisting with invoice queries. The knowledge and skills gained through her apprenticeship will help her continue to provide the best possible service to our customers.
Lucy has been part of the J&B team for four years and said: “What I have enjoyed most about working at J&B is the people, the team and the new friendships I have made.”
She was supported throughout her apprenticeship by Ingrid and our wider sales team.
Ingrid said: “Lucy has worked incredibly hard throughout her apprenticeship, and achieving full marks is a fantastic reflection of the commitment she has shown. She is a valued member of the team, and it has been brilliant to see her confidence and knowledge continue to develop. We are very very proud of her!”
Lucy added: “I am most proud of achieving my qualification and getting full marks across the assessment. My goal is to continue working within the customer service team while broadening and developing the skills I have learned.”
Her advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship is simple: “Go for it!”
We would like to say a huge well done to Lucy on this fantastic achievement. We are incredibly proud of her hard work and look forward to seeing her continue to develop as part of our team.
