Paulina Strazynska joined J&B Recycling as Customer Services Manager in February 2022 to help ensure we deliver the best possible service to our customers.

Paulina, originally from Zielona Góra in Poland, has been in the customer service industry for almost 20 years. She started as a customer service consultant in Poland for a company cooperating with Canal+, where she was responsible for signing contracts for TV channels as well as providing technical assistance to after-sales customers. Through hard work and commitment, as a 19-year-old, Paulina was promoted to a customer service manager and has worked in several senior customer service roles since then.

Paulina moved to England with her husband and two children in 2014. She had always had a desire to live in the UK, telling her mum as a child that she wanted to live here. Another family member had moved to Darlington years earlier and told her how lovely the North East of England is, so when the office she worked in closed and she was set to be relocated, the time felt right to move. Paulina arrived in England on 1^st April – we’re still waiting for the punch line!

Paulina loves working in the customer service industry. She says, “What I love most is working with people, solving problems, advising, and helping whenever I have the opportunity. No two days are the same! There can be challenging times. The most challenging thing for me is when something happens that we have no influence over, for example a vehicle breakdown, or severe weather event that affects operations. Here at J&B I have an amazing team, so even in the most challenging situations, we work together and find solutions.”

Like many of her teammates, Paulina has also developed a keen interest in the recycling process since working at J&B Recycling. She says, “I teach what I learn at work about recycling to our children and I hope that they will continue to do so in the future. Taking care of our environment is very important in our home.”

That said, working in the recycling industry isn’t a career path she would have thought about. She says, “As a child, I never expected that I would ever work in recycling, but after joining the J&B Recycling team, I can't imagine any other career path. I have constant contact with clients, I help them solve problems and we care about the environment.”

Asked what she likes most about working at J&B Recycling, Paulina says, “I am very happy that I joined the J&B team. Here it feels like a second home thanks to the great family atmosphere. I can always count on help and support not only from my team, but also from other departments. J&B Recycling is a leader in this industry and clearly has strong and ambitious plans for the future. I am so excited that we can pursue exciting plans while providing our customers with an exceptional level of service.”

Outside of work Paulina loves spending time with her family. They love to travel, explore and learn about the history of different places. One of her favourite places is the Lake District. After experiencing breast cancer in 2016, Paulina also helps raise awareness about cancer and looks to support others who are currently living with and recovering from it – something we hope to help her with.
