Despite a challenging 2020 J&B Recycling has continued to improve its in-depth staff developments to ensure staff knowledge and progression is at the forefront of the business.
Over the course of 2020 J&B employees undertook 567 training courses totaling to 2,030 training hours for staff within the business. This cements our commitment and drive for continuous staff development.
Michael Robinson, Health and Safety Manager at J&B Recycling, said: “The training was carried out to ensure J&B is compliant with relevant health and safety legislation as well as ensuring the continued development of our staff.
“Health and safety training has such an important role in the business. Training has indicated a huge increase in the awareness of safety and ensures staff go home as safe and healthy as when they came in.”
Four staff from across our sites at Windermere Road, Washington, South Tees and Baltic Street recently attended an emergency first aid at work course, which was undertaken off site in COVID secure conditions to continually ensure safety and training within the business.
The training carried out last year ranged from IOSH health and safety courses, first aid, asbestos awareness, mobile plant, baler operating and also rear steered vehicle training in preparation for the delivery of our new vehicles.
As we now look towards achieving our fourth consecutive year of growth despite the impacts of coronavirus we are excited to welcome three new Recycling Operatives at our Baltic Street site and eight Recycling Operatives at our Windermere Road site this month, all on full time contracts, increasing the company’s headcount.
Due to operational efficiencies and continued investment over the past five years we have been able to manage the impact of coronavirus on J&B with our forecasts predicting us to continue with a strong performance, maintaining our position in the market.
All staff at J&B Recycling are fully trained with records held on a training matrix, ensuring training is constantly reviewed and any refresher training is offered by the company’s own in-house trainer when required.
