Iso 50001 - energy management system

J&B Recycling Achieves ISO 50001 Certification

J&B Recycling, part of the Urbaser Group, is pleased to announce the recent achievement of ISO 50001 certification at its award-winning Windermere materials recycling facility (MRF) in Hartlepool. This internationally recognised standard confirms J&B Recycling's commitment to energy management, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.

ISO 50001 is a comprehensive energy management system standard that provides a framework for organisations to improve energy performance, reduce energy consumption, and enhance overall energy efficiency. By obtaining this prestigious certification, the Windermere MRF takes its place amongst the top performing Urbaser sites able to demonstrate a commitment to achieving continual improvement in energy performance.

The ISO 50001 certification process involved a thorough evaluation of J&B Recycling's energy management practices at the facility, including the monitoring of energy use and consumption, and the continuous improvement of energy performance. The company's commitment to reducing its environmental impact was evident throughout the assessment.

Since joining the Group in July 2021, Urbaser has supported J&B Recycling to deliver innovative waste management solutions while prioritising environmental stewardship. Achieving this ISO 50001 certification by integrating sustainable practices into daily operations reaffirms J&B Recycling’s commitment to the shared ambition of achieving the highest international energy efficiency and sustainability standards.

J&B Recycling's Managing Director, Vikki Jackson-Smith, expressed great pride in the company's accomplishment, stating, “We are proud to hold ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications, and this recent achievement of ISO 50001 is another significant step forward in showcasing our commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and occupational health and safety.
