J&B Recycling has joined a campaign leading the charge to reverse climate change.
The company has long been an advocate of The Prince of Wales’ responsible business organisation “Business in the Community” (BITC). Now J&B Recycling has added its name to a list of signatories to support its latest drive aiming to tackle climate change before it is too late.
The BITC website explains more: “We have just 12 years to prevent catastrophic climate change.
“We must make the most out of precious resources, waste as little as possible and find ways of turning the waste we do create into new wealth.
“Waste to Wealth brings together business, government, academia and civil society to unlock opportunities to double the nation’s resource productivity and eliminate avoidable waste by 2030.”
Vikki Jackson-Smith, J&B Recycling MD, said: “We are proud to support this BITC initiative which mirrors our ethos as a company.
“We do our part by treating waste as a recyclable commodity, but as well as this encourage businesses to look at what they don’t need to use in the first place.”
Recycling helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a number of ways. Using recycled materials to make new products reduces the need for virgin materials. This helps reduce the amount of energy required to create a product and avoids greenhouse gas emissions that would result from extracting or mining virgin materials. Recycling also limits the amount of waste going into landfills.
J&B Recycling processes waste from households and businesses across the North of England. Household waste is processed through contracts delivered for local authorities. Businesses can work directly with J&B Recycling, who operate a waste collection scheme across the North East.
