Vikki Jackson-Smith Joins Alice House Hospice Board Of Trustees

21.03.24

Vikki and the team at J&B Recycling have supported Alice House Hospice for many years. As one of the first members of the Hospice’s Guild of Patrons, we donate £5,000 every year, which helps to provide care and support to local patients and families who have been affected by life limiting illness or the death of a loved one. Furthermore, we have supported many other fundraising events and projects, most recently the Hospice’s Charity Firewalk in February.

The Hospice’s Board of Trustees oversee the running of the charity, ensuring that it is managed effectively, responsibly and legally. Trustees other duties include providing independent governance and advice, as well as representing Alice House as ambassadors and supporting its mission and values.

Hospice Co-CEO, Nicky Haggan said, “We welcome Vikki to our Board and are very pleased that she has taken this next step in her ongoing support of local Hospice care.

“As a longstanding Patron and supporter, both through her business and personally, Vikki continues to make a real difference to our patients and we are looking forward to developing an already very positive relationship. We really appreciate the warmth that Vikki continues to show towards our work.”

Vikki expressed her gratitude and excitement for joining Alice House Hospice's Board of Trustees, stating, "I am truly honoured to join the Board of Trustees at Alice House Hospice, an organisation that holds a special place in my heart. The care and support they provide to our community during times of need are invaluable, and I am committed to furthering their mission alongside my dedicated colleagues. Together, we will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of patients and families facing life-limiting illness or loss."

Alice House Hospice provides care and support to people affected by life limiting illness or the death of a loved one in Hartlepool, Tees Valley and East Durham. It costs over £3.5m to fund these services for one year. The Hospice receives just less than 21% of this in Government funding, leaving a shortfall of just under £8,000 to be raised every single day.
