April was a great month for us here at J&B Recycling. Our new and improved plant is up and running and we have successfully re-tendered for our contract in Sunderland, which started on 1st April. This is great news for our Washington Site, though the contract contributes to tonnage at the Hartlepool MRF also. Our local authority contracts would not be performing in such a way if not for the amazing work from our team. Which leads us to recognising our Star of the Month for April!

The winner of April’s Star of the Month is… Ashleigh Sweeney! Our Operations manager Ashleigh was nominated by members of the team at J&B because she always goes above and beyond to help, even when it is not her responsibility. She will even stay later some evenings to make sure everything is ready for the accounts team to start invoices/ month end responsibilities and for that she deserves recognition.

Ashleigh has worked at J&B Recycling for 18 years, starting as an Office Junior and working her way up to her role today as Operations Manager. Ashleigh’s favourite thing about working at J&B is working with the team every day!

As well as celebrating our Star of the Month for April, we also want to celebrate the other members of the team who were also nominated and some of the kind words that were shared alongside.

Brett was nominated by his team as he us always willing to help them out where possible, for example, on weekends and some evenings, Brett will come in to help move any loaded wagons so that any upcoming loading operations are made more efficient.

Mia was nominated by members of her team because on top of studying at Durham University to become a teacher, she works additional shifts to cover any staff absence, even if that’s in a different department to her own. It’s always a pleasure to have her around in the office and she always manages to put a smile on people’s faces.

Kelsey was also nominated by members of her team in the Transport Department. They commend Kelsey for always being happy to help and for how much she cares to ensure efficiency. When the department ran into some complications, Kelsey went the extra mile to help make sure that all was resolved. Kelsey also deals with customer issues brilliantly and will always look for the best solution.

Marta was nominated because she kindly helped with a, let’s just say, not the nicest of jobs. Marta went the extra mile when it came to finding the most disgusting things in the waste and even helped take some pictures too.

John was also nominated because he always goes the extra mile to help members of the team when it’s needed! John is always ready to help no matter what.

We can’t wait to see what next month brings!
