On November 17th, 2023, Hartlepool Borough Hall became a hub of excitement and pride as it hosted the Hartlepool Business Awards 2023. J&B Recycling was honoured to not only sponsor the prestigious 'Best New Business' category but also to contribute to the festive spirit by sponsoring the table wine. The event was a vibrant showcase of local entrepreneurship and innovation, highlighting the thriving business community in Hartlepool.

The 'Best New Business' category was brimming with talent, making the judging process both challenging and exhilarating. From a pool of outstanding applications, three businesses were shortlisted, each unique in their contributions and vision.

The Shortlisted Businesses

Hartlepool Reloved Clothing. A testament to community spirit and sustainability, Hartlepool Reloved Clothing was born from a simple yet impactful idea by two Hartlepool mums, Natalie and Rachael. Beginning as a school uniform service, their initiative quickly grew into a comprehensive free clothing service. They have aided over 600 families, emphasizing the importance of accessibility and sustainability in clothing.

Wintertide Festival CIC. Transforming from a voluntary annual festival to a significant community-centred event, Wintertide Festival CIC has established itself as a cornerstone of Hartlepool's cultural scene. The festival offers a platform for artists to showcase their talents, fostering creativity and community engagement at a grassroots level.

The Toolroom Ltd. A beacon of industrial innovation, The Toolroom Ltd specialises in toolmaking and precision machining. Established in 2021, their commitment to efficiency, ethical practices, and minimal waste production has set a new standard in the industry.

Announcing the Winner

After careful deliberation, The Toolroom Ltd emerged as the winner. Their commercial success and the potential for positive impact on the town's economy were particularly impressive. The Toolroom Ltd represents the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial drive that J&B Recycling holds in high esteem.

Ongoing Support and Collaboration

Recognising the potential in Hartlepool Reloved Clothing, especially given their alignment with our sustainability goals, J&B Recycling has reached out to offer further support to help them continue their valuable work. Both Hartlepool Reloved Clothing and Wintertide Festival CIC were admirable contenders, demonstrating the diverse and dynamic nature of new businesses in Hartlepool.
