Being one of the largest commercial waste providers in the North East, we are at the forefront of waste management and recycling in the UK.

We are looking to further expand our sales team within the North East as we continue to develop our services / offerings through a commitment to quality and reliability.

About the Role

As a Business Development Executive, you are at the heart of the business and will help identify new commercial business opportunities through growing and managing your own pipeline. Primarily a field based role; focusing on the sales of bins and skips, you will help deliver profitable growth within your territory; Newcastle and surrounding local areas (NE, DH and SR postcodes). You will have the drive and determination to achieve monthly targets while also being instrumental in ensuring that J&B remains unparalleled in our service offering.

We’re open to candidates from a range of backgrounds and so experience in the waste sector isn’t essential as we believe industry knowledge can be learnt but the right ‘can do’ attitude is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting sales activity across a range of self-generated leads
  • Proactively and reactively selling profitable new business
  • Converting sales opportunities of all sizes
  • Delivering revenue growth through effective sales and delivering an exceptional customer experience
  • Visiting customer sites and canvassing face to face
  • Managing your own diary and pipeline
  • Meeting and exceeding monthly targets
  • Managing your own sales territory / area
  • Reporting figures and revenue to sales manager
  • Liaising regularly with transport office to ensure high service levels are met
  • Represent J&B to the highest possible standard as you are the bridge between us and our customers

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in a targeted sales environment
  • A minimum degree of 2:1 is preferred but not essential
  • A passion for achieving sales
  • Articulate and confident
  • Computer literate
  • Commercially minded
  • Resilient and assertive
  • Experience in delivering customer satisfaction
  • An tenacious individual who is self-motivated
  • Forward thinker who is well organised
  • Has a full UK driving licence / ability to travel across north east daily
  • Has the ability to persuade key decision maker
  • Ability to think on your feet / outside of the box

What we can offer

We understand the importance of having the right people in the right place which is why we’re offering the right candidate a basic salary of £26k, OTE over 30k with uncapped commission (so earning potential is unlimited), as well as:

  • Monthly car allowance
  • Mileage / expenses (monthly)

  • Generous Pension ‘after qualifying period’
  • 20 days’ holiday per year + statutory bank holidays
  • Flexibility - you’ll be primarily field based
