J&B Recycling is gearing up to support the Gateshead Family Sculpture Day, held at Saltwell Park on September 24th.

The family event, ran by the Gateshead Council’s culture team, welcomes thousands of people to the park for a day of crafting and construction activities.

With the tag line ‘Hammers, Wood, Nails, Make Things’, local artists and sculptors will be on hand to help attendees create a sculpture out of wood that represents this year’s theme, ‘Four Seasons’.

J&B Recycling is providing a number of skips for the event, to both deliver wood from timber yards and to recycle any waste wood left at the end.

Mark Penny, Commercial Manager at J&B Recycling said: “J&B is really pleased to be able to get involved with this year’s Family Sculpture Day in Gateshead. It’s a real highlight of the Gateshead event calendar and a fantastic opportunity to highlight how wood can be reused and recycled.

“Within the UK, only around one-tenth of wood is recycled, with the rest ending up in landfill. This means we lose out on the huge environmental benefits of using wood again either for materials or for energy.

“This year will be the first time we have worked with Gateshead Council on the event, and J&B is looking forward to helping to make sure the day runs smoothly. Previous events have been really well attended and this year is due to be even bigger and better. Members of the J&B team are going to attending the event and it'll be great to see what creations they come up with."
