Name: Kevin Bulmer
Position: Fleet Driver
Favourite Sport and Team: Being from Teesside I’ve always been a Middlesbrough FC fan. I started following them when I was about 10, with all the lads from school, and I have followed them ever since.
Favourite song: I am a big music fan and spend a lot of time listening to music in my spare time, but I’m not sure I could pick one favourite song.
The likes of Roy Orbison, T-Rex and Slade are all firm favourites from my era, but I also like Ed Sheeran as someone a bit more recent.
I absolutely love Motown music too.
Favourite Food: I was in the army for 15 and a half years and in that time I travelled all over the world. Wherever I went, I was keen to try the local delicacies and I’m lucky enough to have tried some really incredible food.
Yet nothing beats roast beef and Yorkshire puddings on a Sunday.
Favourite TV programme: I like my crime and investigation dramas, like Vera on ITV and Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) on 5 USA. John Wayne was my hero growing up so if any of his films are on I’ll always sit down to watch them.
Where is your dream holiday? Whilst in the army I was posted in Kenya for 6 weeks and I absolutely loved it. I would love to go back and go on Safari. The people are fantastic and the place is beautiful.
I would also love to visit Hong Kong, maybe one day if I win the lottery.
What do you do in your spare time? I have two sons that live in Lancashire, and every other weekend I go down to visit them. Michael is 20 and Thomas is 15 and I like to take them out and spoil them rotten.
I have a third son who is 43 and lives in Australia, so I don’t get to see him as much as I'd like.
I also like to go fishing when I get the chance.
How long have you been at the company? I’ve worked for J&B for the past two years. Previously I worked as a long distance delivery HGV driver, spending my time travelling up and down the country. I have always loved driving, it’s what I’m used to, which is why this job at J&B is so well suited to me.
Describe your typical day at J&B Recycling (and what your job entails)
Each shift varies quite a bit depending on what vehicle I am driving that day.
I spend my time on either the hook-loader vehicles, transporting skips, the curtain siders, delivering and picking up J&B bins, or the bin wagons carrying out the collections.
I can find myself anywhere from up in Northumberland, to down in the Yorkshire Dales. I get to see a lot of beautiful countryside, which is great. Only a few days ago I was in the bin wagon carrying out collections from Leyburn in the Dales, and at 5:30am as the sun was coming up, deer were running across the road in front of me. Just stunning, and not something you get to see in town.
