Senior Electrical Engineer

J&B Recycling is the largest independent waste management company in the North East. Handling materials from domestic kerbside collections, commercial collections and waste sites. We have four sites in total, two in Hartlepool, one in Middlesbrough and one in Washington, three of the sites have fixed plant with many mechanical systems.

The successful candidate will have had previous experience as an Electrical Engineer, using Inverters, PLC’s, have good planning, organisation and health and safety awareness skills. Experience of the waste industry would be desirable but not essential.

Purpose

The role of the senior electrical engineer is quite varied, they must be comfortable leading a team with a focus on installation, reactive maintenance and PPM routines checking the electrical control systems and related components across all sites, strictly use health and safety procedures and produce reports/work documents by CMMS.

Roles and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the plant machinery on all sites is maintained in order to achieve the required plant runtime.

Ensuring that the weekly PPM’s for each site and plant is carried out to request specifications.

The work varies on a day to day basis but includes:

  • Fault finding, fault diagnosing, testing and repair of electrical equipment on static and mobile plant.
  • Troubleshoots and repair and maintains electrical distribution system including electric motors, electric controls, electric distribution panels, any other electric system on sites.
  • Monitor work done by outside contractors.
  • Supervise the daily, weekly and monthly electrical PPM’s on sites, or by CMMS.
  • Conduct safety compliance inspections and maintain records.
  • Working to health and safety, environmental and other standards applied to the process.
  • Maintaining standard operating procedures as required.
  • Develop/document training material to facilitate transfer of skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure all specific and critical spares parts are in stock, or request it.
  • Experience of working with Engineering and electrical drawings.
  • Provide training, work direction and guidance for all team members.
  • Adhere to safe working practice and procedures including and not limited to lockout, tag out, working at heights, etc.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, cherry pickers.
  • Assist Mechanical engineers in their task and ask for team support if need.
  • Plan and complete preventative maintenance for each site within agreed timeframes.
  • Comply with H&S procedures by working in a safe and responsible manner at all times, ensuring that the company’s permit system is consistently implemented and used.

Essential Educational/Professional Qualifications

The successful candidate must be apprentice trained or equivalent - City and Guilds, NVQ, ONC, or above, as well as be 18th Edition qualified.

Additional Information

Salary: £35,000 - £43,000 per annum depending on experience

Call outs will be paid a minimum of 4 hours

Salary review after 3 and 6 months, outcome dependent on performance

Hours: 45 per week

Shifts: Will initially be 07:00 -16.30 until any required training is complete.

Shift Pattern - one week of each shift 06:00 – 15:30, 07:00 – 16:30 and 13:30 – 23: 00

On Call: When on 13:30 – 23:00 will be on call for breakdowns from 23:00 – 6:00 through the week and weekend until 06:00 Monday

On call 1 week in 3

Holidays 28 days including bank holidays
