Most food waste ends up in landfill sites where because it is biodegradable it rots and releases damaging green house gases. Throwing away food is also a huge waste of the energy, water and packaging used in its production, transportation and storage. If we all stopped wasting the food which could have been eaten, it would have the same CO2 impact as taking 1 in 4 cars off UK roads.

J&B can provide a food waste only collection via dedicated wheelie bins or in bulk. If food waste is collected separately form general or mixed waste it can be sent to a facility where it is recycled into a good quality soil improver or fertiliser and used to generate electricity that is fed back into the national grid.
